What is BloomAid, and how does it work?

BoomAid is an online mental health counseling platform designed to improve users' quality of life by offering accessible and affordable care for a variety of issues, such as stress, anxiety, depression, and more. It operates online, allowing clients to interact with counselors through live chat, audio, and video calls. During the session, clients discuss their concerns with their counselor in a private, comfortable setting, receiving guidance and support tailored to their needs. Subsequent sessions can be scheduled as needed.

How do I schedule a counseling session?

You must complete an online form providing information about your needs and preferences to schedule a counseling session. Once your match is confirmed, BloomAid will contact you to discuss the next steps, arrange payment, and confirm your preferred time slot.

What technology or equipment do I need for an online counseling session?

For an online counseling session with BloomAid, you will need a reliable internet connection and a device that can connect to the internet, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

Are online counseling sessions with BloomAid private and confidential?

Yes, online counseling sessions with BloomAid are private and confidential. Your counselor will maintain confidentiality regarding your discussions, with a few exceptions. Suppose there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or an identifiable victim. In that case, the counselor may be required to report this to the relevant authorities. BloomAid also may share information if requested by legal authorities. Otherwise, your interactions with your counselor are protected.

Can I stay anonymous to BloomAid?

No, but all your information is protected by confidentiality requirements.

How long does each counseling session last?

Each counseling session with BloomAid lasts a minimum of one hour. After the first hour, additional time is billed in half-hour increments.

How much does an online counseling session cost?

BloomAid offers online counseling sessions at a rate of BDT 2000 per hour. For Bangladeshi individuals living outside Bangladesh or foreigners residing in Bangladesh, the introductory session starts at $50 per hour. Subsequent half-hour sessions cost BDT 1000 or $25.

Do you offer any introductory or discounted sessions?

Yes, BloomAid provides a $20 introductory 30-minute session intended to establish initial connections between parents, children, and counselors. This offer is exclusively for Bangladeshi individuals living outside Bangladesh or foreigners residing in Bangladesh for their first session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment with BloomAid, you should do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid losing your payment. If you cancel with proper notice, you can reschedule for another slot based on the counselor's availability. Once payment is made, it is non-refundable, and refunds are only available if BloomAid cannot provide the service.

How do I pay for my counseling session?

You can pay for your counseling session via mobile financial services (MFS), or Bank Transfer. Details for each payment method will be provided upon booking your session.

What qualifications do your counselors have?

Our counselors at BloomAid are highly qualified professionals with extensive education and training in psychology and counseling. They hold degrees such as BSc and MSc in Psychology from reputable universities. They have specialized training in various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Transactional Analysis, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Additionally, our counselors have certifications in psychology teaching and tele-counseling, and they have practical experience working in educational institutions, mental health organizations, and counseling centers. They are dedicated to providing valuable and empathetic support to clients.

Can I choose my counselor?

Yes, you can choose your counselor. However, BloomAid recommends giving this responsibility to them so that they can match you with a counselor who best fits your needs and preferences based on the information you provide in the online form. This matching process ensures you receive the most suitable support for your specific issues.

What if I have an emergency or need immediate help?

If you have an emergency or need immediate help, BloomAid is not the appropriate platform. For immediate assistance, please get in touch with emergency services or helplines.

Do you offer counseling services in different languages?

Yes, BloomAid offers counseling services in both English and Bengali.

Does insurance cover your services?

No, BloomAid's services are not covered by insurance. We do not work with insurance companies or submit claims to health insurers. However, you may request document(s) from us, which you can use to claim benefits from your insurance provider.

How is online counseling with BloomAid right for me?

BloomAid might be right for you if you seek accessible and flexible mental health support. It allows you to receive professional help from the comfort of your home, making it convenient for those with busy schedules or limited access to in-person services. If you are comfortable using technology and prefer the privacy and convenience of online sessions, then online counseling could be a good fit for you.

However, BloomAid is not suitable if you need immediate emergency assistance, require medication, or are mandated to undergo counseling by a court order.

How long will I need your service?

The duration depends on individual needs. Some find value within a few weeks, while others prefer longer-term support. This is entirely up to you.

Can minors access your counseling services?

Yes, minors can access BloomAid's counseling services, but they must have proper adult consent and documentation. Suppose you are a parent seeking counseling for your child. In that case, the initial session will be between you and the counselor to discuss your child's issues and situation. Once you approve, the counselor will connect with your child for subsequent sessions.

If you don't feel comfortable with your counselor, you can request a change. We will work with you to match you with a different counselor who better meets your needs and preferences. Your comfort and valuable support are our top priorities.

What services does BloomAid not provide?

BloomAid is not suitable if:

  • You need medications, not counseling.

  • You are under 18 years old without proper adult consent and documentation.

  • You are in an urgent crisis or emergency.

  • You are required to undergo counseling by a court order or authority.
